"Let thy Food be thy Medicine and thy Medicine be thy Food." - Hippocrates
Betty (Lily May) Hooper was an insightful, practical and caring woman who loved to help children. She investigated the “ADD & ADHD” issue for more than 32 years. As well as conducting many of her own case studies, she traveled to “ADD & ADHD”-free Cuba, where she discovered children’s diets were typically healthy and free of junk food and fizzy drinks, such as Coca-Cola.
Betty regarded the number of children being misdiagnosed with “ADD & ADHD” and put on Ritalin unnecessarily as appalling and so educated the public about the “ADD & ADHD” hoax for more than a decade, often entirely at her own expense.
In 2020, Betty was awarded a Civic Honours by the Whangarei District Council, for her work for the benefit of her community.
Following her death on March the 21st, 2023 at 103-years of age, a foundation was established in order to ensure that the issues that were important to Betty, continue to be promoted.
